I wanted to post this immediately but had some car trouble on the way home which has caused a bit of distraction around here. I veered from the intial shopping plan a bit when I saw they had Easter candy 90% off (woohoo!).
Purchases:
Peeps (3)
Chocolate Bunny (3)
Batteries - Various Sizes (6)
Ziploc Freezer Bags (2)
M&M's 12.6oz (2)
Rite Aid Sale Savings - $36.04
Coupon Savings - $5
Total Out of Pocket Cost - $26.92
Also I received $1 +UP reward for next time.
I got the Peeps for $0.60 total and the bunnies for $0.30 total thanks to the Easter candy sale. The Ziploc bags are $3.99 but on sale buy one get one free and I had a $1 off coupon (only one coupon this time unfortunately). The M&M's are $3.99 and also buy one get one free. I didn't have any coupons available but they should be eligible for a $1 single check rebate. The batteries were all Rite aid brand so no coupons, but I got 10% off using my store card. they all retail for $6.99 and were on sale buy one get one free as well. We go through batteries like it's going out of style so I jumped at the chance to stock up. All in all I'd say a successful trip :)

My Trip to Walgreens - 5/18/2011
This trip was small and had a small price tag.
Purchases:
All laundry detergent (2)
Kleenex 200ct (2)
Walgreens Sale Savings - $9.68
Coupon Savings - $5
Total Out of Pocket Cost - $4.93
Personally I always feel a huge sense of satisfaction when my savings are more than my total. My savings are nothing compared the those people on Extreme Couponing, but at I love knowing I'm getting the necessities for my family and saving much needed money in the process. And I think I'm doing alright for a beginner.
Today's trip was easy because both items were part of a buy one get one free sale (love those!). All is regularly $6.99 and the Kleenex is $2.29. I used two $1 off coupons on the All making the price just $4.99 for 2 bottles! I had no coupons for the Kleenex but when I see it at BOGO I try to pick up at least two boxes because my family can really go through those. I also used $3 in Register Rewards I had received during my last trip.

Trip to Walgreens - 5/9/11
Well I did manage to make it out to Walgreen's today and I was quite pleased with the outcome. Here's the details.
Purchases:
Pampers Swaddlers Diapers Size 2 (36 count) (2)
One A Day Prenatal Vitamins (30+30 size) (2)
Clean & Clear Body Wash (2)
Clean & Clear Foaming Cleanser (2)
L'Oreal Go 360 Cleanser (1)
Walgreen's sale savings - $25.87
Coupon savings - $15.04
Total Out of Pocket Cost - $60.87
Also, upon checkout I received $3 in Register Rewards for next time, a $2 Pampers coupon, and a new 10 point code for the Pampers Gifts to Grow program.
Now, while this certainly isn't the best I've ever done I am still quite pleased at the total. There were a few things in there I really had to pick up so I was glad to find a sale at all. Here's how it breaks down. the diapers are regularly $10.99/each, but on sale for $9 plus $3 in Register Rewards when you buy two. I also had 2 Pampers coupons available for $1.50 and $1.75 off. So now $22 of diapers became $14.75 plus $3 for later use.
Next the Prenatal Vitamins. These things are ridiculously expensive in my opinion and I would have preferred to wait on a better sale but I'm on my last bottle so I'll take what I can get. they are regularly $22 but on sale buy one get one half off. I also had two One A Day vitamin coupons for $1 each. Now $44 of vitamins became $31. I've actually had a slightly hard time finding these vitamins on sale. The regular One A Days go on sale frequently, but not the prenatals.
Clean & Clear body wash is $5.99/each and on sale buy one get one free. One of the coupon/shopping blogs I follow matched this sale up with a C&C buy one get one free coupon from the paper a couple of weeks ago. $12 of body wash is now free!
Clean & Clear foaming cleanser is $5.79/each and on sale buy one get one half off. I printed two $2 off one C&C product before I left and $11.50 in face wash became less than $4.75
Lastly is the L'Oreal Go 360 Cleanser. Although I tried i could not find a coupon for this item and it's one of those things I should have stocked up on with previous coupons, but didn't, so I had to buy one because I'm out. It was on sale from $7.29 to $5.29, at least I didn't get stuck with full price.
All in all I feel it was a successful trip considering the things I needed to pick up and their original costs. I was running out of some expensive stuff! About 40% off original prices sounds good to me!

Mother's Day
I decided to take it easy today since my husband gave me the day off. I did however manage to go through the weekly ads and get my coupons clipped. I know a lot of people keep their inserts intact but I've found the easiest way for me is clipping the whole insert and labeling the bunch. This way when I make my lists for shopping I can go to a coupon database, look up what's available, and grab them out of my bunches. I'm hoping to get a binder organization system going soon, but for now this will have to do. Although I haven't made my lists yet at first glance it looks like I'll be trying to grab a bunch of stuff at Walgreen's this week. It also looks like there are some really good deals at Rite Aid this week, but not on anything I really need to stock up on at the moment. I do however have $4+UP that will expire on Saturday if I don't use them so I will be running in at some point this week.
I also received some great coupons in the mail yesterday from Kroger (including 4 free items!) and I'm really looking forward to making the most of those in the upcoming weeks. I hope everyone out there is having a Happy Mother's Day!

Well THAT was a long break...
Ok, so I haven't been doing so well keeping up with writing posts. We had a family vacation and some other family matters to attend to that kept me pretty busy over the last couple months. Things are still a little busy but I'm going to try to start posting again. I've been learning about couponing and saving during this down time so I have LOTS to share. Tomorrow is not only Mother's Day, but also the day I get my new coupons and ads in the paper. I'll be trying to plan my weekly trips to the store tomorrow as well if I can find the time. I know a lot of people do this ahead of time by looking up the future ads for the stores they shop in, but thus far I haven't been able to keep things straight if I look more than a week in advance (and I can rarely find the time for even that).
